Our partner

Since 1991, A Step to Freedom (ASF) has been a cornerstone of South Los Angeles’ reentry and homelessness response system, providing safe transitional housing, mental health and substance use services, and workforce development to justice-involved adults rebuilding their lives.

How we helped

Daley Strategies supports A Step to Freedom in developing and implementing a sustained engagement strategy that builds trust, creates opportunities for dialogue, and raises awareness of ASF’s role in South Los Angeles’ reentry, homelessness, and behavioral health landscape. We cultivate public and civic partnerships that support the organization’s mission to provide justice-involved individuals and families with dignity, community, and the opportunity to define their own futures.

Highlights

ASF operates 244 interim housing beds across seven South Los Angeles facilities and served nearly 400 individuals in 2025, with 83% of participants securing permanent housing. Its residential programs integrate trauma-informed mental health and recovery services, while its workforce, housing navigation, and family reunification programs help participants build lasting stability beyond their time in transitional housing.
