Happy Trails for Kids

Our partner

There are more than 20,000 children in the foster care system in Los Angeles County — the highest number in the nation. For the past 16 years, Happy Trails for Kids has been dedicated to providing foster youth with transformative outdoor experiences and leadership development through overnight camps and year-round adventures that foster enduring relationships, instill optimism, and develop key skills that improve youth success. Through activities such as hiking, horseback riding, environmental education, and programs for older youth, Happy Trails creates opportunities for young people in foster care to experience stability, connection, and personal growth.

How we helped

Daley Strategies helps Happy Trails strengthen relationships with government leaders, community partners, and potential supporters to build greater awareness of the organization’s mission and expand the resources available to serve foster youth. Our team engages elected officials and public agencies, cultivates champions for Happy Trails, and supports advocacy and fundraising efforts to support the organization’s long-term growth and impact.

Highlights

The Daley Strategies team helped Happy Trails secure its first permanent home. In 2025, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors deeded Happy Trails a remarkable 133-acre property in Acton to create a permanent camp and year-round campus for foster youth from throughout Los Angeles County and Southern California. Daley Strategies has since supported efforts to secure resources needed to renovate and activate the campus, including a $500,000 federal funding request advanced by Senator Alex Padilla’s office. Once complete, the Acton campus will allow Happy Trails to serve thousands of foster youth for generations to come and provide a lasting home for its programs.
