With fall officially beginning, I’m excited to share a few highlights from what our team has been working hard on throughout the summer.

Clients Recommended for Significant Federal Support

This summer, Daley Strategies and our clients achieved big wins to support important community projects.

Thanks to the leadership and support of Senators Adam J. Schiff and Alex Padilla, nearly $8 million in federal congressionally directed spending has been requested for critical services to the arts, disabilities, and foster youth communities.

Senator Padilla requested $3 million for the Entertainment Community Fund’s Hollywood Arts Collective Rita Moreno Arts Building, which is currently under development and will include performance and arts facilities, space for arts organizations, and a satellite campus for the LA County High School for the Arts (LACHSA).

Senators Padilla and Schiff, respectively, requested $1.5 million and $900,000 for ETTA to support its programs serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In addition, for Cornerstone Village, where ETTA will provide its wraparound services, Senator Padilla requested $2 million.

Cornerstone Village is a first-of-its-kind community offering residents a model living-learning environment, providing impactful wraparound services including residential housing, employment support, day programming, and family education to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live active, independent lives. The community is set to welcome residents this fall.

Daley Strategies was delighted to join Supervisor Lindsey Horvath on a tour of Cornerstone Village. Thank you to Supervisor Horvath and her team for their support and enthusiasm for ETTA and this project!

With 133 acres in Acton for its new permanent home, Happy Trails for Kids is renovating the campus to prepare it for foster youth campers. Senator Padilla requested $500,000 to support these efforts, providing critical funding to restore the kitchen and cafeteria, expand seating areas, remodel cabins, upgrade infrastructure, and renovate key facilities, including aquatics, sports fields, hiking trails, and the amphitheater.

Via Goes Public

Congratulations to our client Via on a successful IPO! Via is reimagining connectivity and public transit across Southern California, partnering with Metro and the cities of Rosemead, Monterey Park, Torrance, and others to provide affordable, efficient on-demand rides where traditional transit options are limited.

Strengthening Grassroots at NAMI GLAC’s First Advocacy Day

The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Greater Los Angeles County, held its first-ever Advocacy Day with the LA County Board of Supervisors this September. NAMI GLAC members from across the county met with each of the Supervisors’ offices in person, where they shared their lived experiences and advocated for forward-thinking mental health policies. Daley Strategies is proud to have supported NAMI GLAC in this monumental effort to connect community members with policymakers.

Palm Springs Advances $125M Convention Center Modernization Project

On September 10, the Palm Springs City Council voted unanimously to advance the Palm Springs Convention Center Modernization & Connectivity Project. The council’s approval marks a major milestone after months of planning, working groups, and stakeholder engagement supported by Daley Strategies. The $125 million overhaul will renovate and expand the facility and upgrade downtown connectivity. The modernized convention center will be a world-class venue, driving new tourism and economic activity to Palm Springs.

Building New Partnerships

Associated Builders & Contractors — Southern California

Daley Strategies is proud to partner with a new client, Associated Builders and Contractors — Southern California (ABC SoCal). ABC SoCal is a leading advocate for the merit shop construction industry, committed to advancing workforce development and creating pathways into the trades through registered apprenticeship programs.

As our region addresses the housing crisis and critical infrastructure needs, creating opportunities for skilled labor will play a key role in driving economic growth and strengthening communities.

The Frame Group

Our team is also excited to kick off our partnership with The Frame Group. Frame develops revolutionary alternative housing solutions that meet the demand for safe, dignified, and rapidly deployable housing that outpaces traditional delivery models. Later this fall, Frame will be showcasing its Via model in Altadena.

Celebrating Team Daley Strategies

Earlier this summer, our Vice President Michael Yosef graduated from Coro’s Housing & Houselessness Leadership Network program. We are incredibly proud of Michael for his commitment and dedication to developing the skills, resilience, and cross-sector relationships needed to drive meaningful, systemic solutions to housing and houselessness challenges. He continues to drive transformative work for our clients in this space, including leading housing efforts with ETTA/Cornerstone and state and local advocacy on behalf of LAHSA.

Daley Strategies was pleased to host Coro Youth Fellows Kai Kuklinski and Camille Craig, who gained hands-on exposure to local and state public affairs. They joined us for meetings with the Community Safety Implementation Team (CSIT), the Deputy Secretary of the California Environmental Protection Agency, and the Homeless Policy Deputies. We wish Kai and Camille all the best as they complete high school and begin their college journeys!

Say Hello to Our Stellar New Team Members

Lydia Kelley, Research Associate — Lydia is a Master of Public Policy student at UCLA with a background in quantitative and qualitative research and a Master of Science in Education from California State University, Fullerton. She has interned for Congresswoman Norma Torres and Congresswoman Katie Porter and currently serves on the UCLA Luskin Public Policy Leadership Association Board, where she advocates for strategic policy engagement and leadership development.

Izzy Del Gaudio, Research Associate — Izzy is a senior at the University of Southern California pursuing a B.A. in Political Science and an M.S. in Social Entrepreneurship. She has served with the U.S. State Department, Department of Defense, and U.S. Space Force, and has worked locally with the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office and Southern California organizations to advance civic engagement and public service.

Teya Hisel, Senior Research Associate — Teya is pursuing a Master of Social Work at the University of Chicago and previously served as Policy Manager for the Downtown Women’s Center, leading advocacy at the federal, state, and local levels on housing, homelessness, and gender-based violence. She also worked on housing advocacy with United Way of Greater Los Angeles and earned her B.A. from the University of Southern California.
